Lying on your Back in Pregnancy

Planning an afternoon snooze post Sunday dinner but you've heard that laying on your back in pregnancy is bad.

So what's the deal?

Well firstly the evidence in this topic has changed massively in the last few years.Previously women were advised to not lie in their backs from 12 weeks to avoid the weight of the gravid uterus pressing in the vena cava (the major artery that carries blood from the lower half of the body).

✔️Most recent ACOG guidance states, "as long as a woman feels ok lying flat, with no signs of light-headedness, tingling legs, nausea, impaired breathing or general discomfort, she is fine to lie on her back". Just another little reminder for how important it is to stay ontop of research.

Enjoy your weekend
