Breastfeeding reduces cavities

have heard of bottle mouth?!! A term coined where baby's getting a bottle of formula last thing at night has been linked to significant tooth decay. You will be happy to hear that no valid link  been made between breastfeeding and cavities. A study done in May 2019 "teeth soaked in breastmilk do not lose calcium, whereas teeth soaked in infant formula do lose calcium". Factors that do influence cavity  formation however include. ✔️Access to fluoridated drinking water. ✔️the presence of strep mutans(the bacteria that causes tooth decay)  in the mouths of mothers and baby. Breastmilk actually contains Lactoferrin, a protein which kills strep mutans. ✔️The availibility of too many sugary snacks and drinks. Fruits included🍏🍉🍑 ✔️Poor dental hygiene. Did you know that as soon as your baby's teeth erupt you should begin a brushing routine twice a day. So keep on feeding mamas. 💪💪💪 #birthbabybeyond #ibclc #lactationconsultantmom #lactationconsultankilkenny #lactatingmom #breastfeedingisbeautiful #birtheducation #positivebirtheurope #antenatalclass #wisdom #birth #birth#childbirth #naturalchildbirth #twinstagram #breastfeedingbenefits #breastmilk #lactation #mum #healthbenefits #breastfeedinginireland #kilkennyblogger #irishbloggers #irishmaternity #irishdoula #toothdecay #toothdecayprevention #paediatric #paediatricdentistry #baby #babytips
